Hello from Cheshire (1 Viewer)

Have just joined the forum. I enjoy birdwatching around Cheshire and the Wirral whilst walking the dog. I have a Kowa TSN612 scope and a pair of Leica Ultravids 8 x 42 and Trinovids 10 x 25.

To be honest I use the bins far more than the scope. The Trinovids are always in my car and can be put in a pocket whatever I am doing. I have always found the scope a bit disappointing. Anyway it is a significant wedding anniversary next month and whilst I could be tempted by a Leica or Swarofski scope, I am not sure I can justify the outlay.

Have any of you any recommendations which wont break the bank and which will offer a significant improvement over the Kowa. The current eyepiece is 27x and I think the view from the Ultravids is just as good and almost as big. I do wear glasses.

Happy birding.

ps. I saw my virst red kite last saturday at the RSPB in Burton

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum. :t:

Hi mikench and a warm welcome from me too

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I'll look forward to your contributions.

You may want to ask your question in the 'scope forum. Some idea of your budget would be helpful to them.
