Binocular "pairings", are two better than one ? (1 Viewer)

That's why we need you to buy one! We need a guinea pig....er.. I mean, an experienced user to review it.

My money's tied up in Tesla Motors stock. My former editor's son swears it's going to explode. Or he might have been referring to Elon Musk's other company, SpaceX. ;)

I think Piergiovanni might be evaluating the Prominar XDs since he posted photos of them on binomania.

Explode like the LI batteries?

I saved and bought alpha bins which don't need "pairing".

And I will consider buying two poor bins for the price of one good when I run a B-class bin store and need to sell more stuff. Or maybe when I grow a second pair of eyes, like deep sea fish. ;)

Honestly, better binoculars improve quality of view in all conditions. My good birding bins perform very well also watching mammals at night, which are most radically different conditions I can think of.

So for a birder willing to upgrade bins, it is best to buy a new better pair and sell the old one as second-hand, not to 'pair' or 'complement' one mediocre bins with second mediocre bins. Of course, if you are very rich, you can buy two or more A bins.

I don't need more than one binocular, but I like to have two: a small/compact size and a full size.
I always carry only one binocular when out.

I don't need any more than one, but I have about 30, and I like them all, ;) I think I need help !!

There's nothing wrong with being an optics enthusiast , collector or whatever you want to call it...as long as it brings you joy.
Plus, we only live once...might as well enjoy it. o:)

I think that I helped with a couple of those ! :t:

One of the matched pairs I have been using this Summer (in this case for bright days on the beach) is the Byfield Recon 10x42 (http://www.birdforum.net/reviews/showproduct.php/product/445/limit/recent), great having the extra reach of a 10x for those distant birds, and the Byfield Tracker 8x56 for that 'big view' afloat.

These are well worth a serious look for specialist use.
