Hello,
From a distance I thought this was a Broad Bodied Chaser but now i'm confused about the head and wings.
Any help appreciated as usual :)

I like to have a guess but am usually too slow, the answer has usually arrived when i get round to looking/replying.

My guess is Keeled Skimmer, i'm usually wrong though :-(

Jeff is right, this is a male Keeled Skimmer. Broad-bodied Chaser is very dumpy looking, and this insect lacks the black tail tip of Scarce Chaser and Black-tailed Skimmer. You can also make out the yellow pterostigma which is indicative of this species. Another good identification feature is the tendancy of Keeled Skimmer to hold their wings forward when at rest.

Just wanted to say that this is a corking picture. Certainly helps Id queries when pics are of this quality. Have you considered adding this to the gallery? I don't think there are any others of this species there and even so it would be a great addition.
