Starling with Long or Broken Beak (1 Viewer)

I spotted this starling in my garden during August which had some sort of beak deformity. Its beak is about 1+1/2 times as long as a normal starling beak. I watched the starling eat ok but it seemed quite timid.

I thought its beak might have been broken and regrown like this.

Has anyone seen this sort of thing before and have any idea of what happened to it?

Thanks.
