Sibley Field Guideto Birds (1 Viewer)

I just received my new copy of Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, and it is really fantastic. I purchased this book based upon a thread I read here comparing the Nation Geographic book to Sibley's.

The book credits David Sibley as author and illustrator... putting together a book like this had to have been a massive undertaking for single person. Does anyone know David Sibley's background and story?

David Sibley is a well known birder and artist. He has been active for many years as a field birder and professional illustrator. He is the son of Fred Sibley, a rather prominent ornithologist. His artwork has been displayed in many articles and books over the years prior to his own field guide. "Hawks in Flight" by Pete Dunne and CLay Sutton contains his pen and ink illustrations which I think are absolutely superb. One of my favorite books. He is a regular contributor to the Frontiers of Field Identification listserve which is a cutting edge informational discussion group for the more learned among birders.
