I signed up today while looking for pix of birds of prey.
I saw a nice very small falcon on my way back to workfrom lunch.
I'm guessing it was a Kestral. Around the size of a blue jay.
Initially caught my eye due to markings similar to a woodpecker, but then I saw it unfold its wings and stretch its tail feathers.
Definitely a bird of prey.
Sitting on wires along a railway track watching the tall grass.
I guess the bird wanted lunch too.
I'll be checking out the photo galleries to help ID this fine creature.

Thanks for hosting a great site!

saying hi

Hey there. I'm from Ohio and just about everytime I see a Kestral it's sitting on a wire over a grassy field. My best bet would be to agree with you.
