Very sick house sparrow - help? (1 Viewer)

Today I have found what i think to be (after lots of googling) a juvenile house sparrow in my garden, very weak and with what appeared to be a large tick near his eye. The eye is weeping and swollen shut. I managed to remove the tick but now I am not sure what to do next? I am unable to get him to a rescue centre or vets today, so currently he is resting in a lined box. I have fed him some water via a pipette but he will not eat any food (I have tried crushed seeds, I would love some advice on what to feed a sick bird too).

He appears very unwell, breathing heavily with his eyes shut. He definitely cannot see out of one eye as he kept on bumping into things in my garden. Can a tick really cause this much distress or is there an underlying problem?

Any help would be much appreciated, I am not a bird expert whatsoever and have only found out what I can via research.
