Hi! Help me please with these gulls. I'm thinking that there should be two different - Caspian gull, Larus cachinnans and Yellow-legged gull, Larus michahellis. 01-08 - are from Istanbul, last ones from Rome.
Thank you!

hi oleg,

nice pics. a bit sorry to say though that all of them belong to larus michahellis. which one do you think should be a cachinnans?

Hi Lou!
I wasn't sure, but I thought that some of them SHOULD be cachinnans )))
Adult cachinnans has more pink legs, yes?
Thank you!!!

on average it has more pinkish legs in winter but they can also be yellow or pale yellow or greyish. there are about 10000 features to look for and you have to add them. never go by leg colour alone...

Hi Lou,

yes, I see. But now I think that all big gulls I have from Turkey are yellow-legged... Just for the reference three more pictures.
And 04 and 05 - this is Black-headed gull, Larus ridibundus, right?

Thank you!!!
