Pentax 80ED vs. recent Nikon 82 (1 Viewer)

I had picked out the Nikon Fieldscope III 60mm HD as my scope of choice, but then got the Pentax 80ED as a gift. I can exchange it if I want. I know the Pentax is great optically, but I'm concerned about it's size, durability, and the weight of it when combined with a tripod sturdy enough to do it justice. (I also dislike the Pentax warranty compared with Nikon's, and I THINK I prefer the large Nikon focussing ring.) I'm wondering if I should go back and get the Nikon 60--and perhaps give up future digiscoping brightness in exchange for portability), or try to stretch for the Nikon 82mm. Has anyone compared the Nikon 82 and the Pentax 80? I'd hate to trade in, have to pay more, and get optics that are not as sharp. But I think the Nikon is much more compact (and it does have some no-fault warranty). Thanks for any input...

Yes, more or less. Is that against the rules? I figured I needed to ask the "Pentax" fans specifically.

If so, I'll delete it--if you tell me how. I was unable to figure it out; I could only edit my message, not delete the thread.

I think it won't matter - but I think everyone will 'see' both threads. Deleting? There is a way - can't remember how at the mo'!

PS I think you click on "edit", then the delete screen is at the top.
