Bird Drawing (1 Viewer)

Our printer went "on the fritz" so we bought a new "all-in-one" jobby, scanner, printer, copier and fax machine. I tried it out and scanned a drawing I did of a Pied Kingfisher I drew when I was getting ready to go on a birding trip to Kenya. It seemed to scan in pretty well.Whenever we are planning on going on a bird trip I like to study the new birds we are likely to see. And then I also like to sketch a few of them. It helps me to remember what the birds look like and then I am better equipped to be able to identify them when I see them in the field.

Here are a couple more of the "black and white" type birds which I sketched and then did see on our Kenya Trip.

Harpy Eagle

We wanted to see the Harpy Eagle when Brenda and I went to Costa Rica, but we were not able to see it. Also missed the Sunbittern, which was one we really wanted to see.

Here is a sketch of a bird we did see on our Costa Rica Trip. We were traveling down a river through a mangrove swamp. We saw a couple of these Boat-billed Herons (really an awesome bird!) as well as a Mangrove Yellow Warbler (the only "lifer" that our guide got during our two week trip) and several other "good" birds, including a Mangrove Black Hawk.
