definitive species count of warblers worldwide (1 Viewer)

Steve_Halstead

Sparrow or Crow?
I have been trying to find a site that can categorically state the number of warbler sp. worldwide. Does anyone have a place to find out?

thank you

http://jboyd.net/Taxo/List13.html is a reasonable place to start as JB tends to be a little in advance of most others in taxonomic matters. As Nutcracker says, it'd be a lot easier if you defined "Warbler". Old World "Warblers" are a group of not too closely related families, New World Woodwarblers ( it'd be a lot easier if they called them that ;) ) have quite a few species that aren't Woodwarblers and there are a motley bunch of other species, world wide, called "Warbler" but are in no way related to any of the other "Warblers".

also worth bearing in mind that in a large group such as this, there is no "categorical" right answer as different authorities will split and lump things differently.
