Hi.

Is it worth birding Cyprus the second decade of March (until March 20th)? If we'd go, we definitely wanted to see Cyprus Warbler, Cyprus Wheatear, Scops Owl and have a chance to see Greater Sand Plover. I have not found any arrival/migration dates on those species on Cyprus.

What about migration this time of year?

Regards

Hi Urbandove

All 4 species can be found in Cyprus in March. Cyprus Warbler is a resident breeder, C Wheatear is a migrant breeder, Scops Owl is a resident breeder/passing migrant and Greater Sandplover is a passing migrant/winter visitor.

Things are starting to pick up in March and plenty can be found. I suggest you check out the Birdlife Cyprus website where you can access their monthly sightings lists for the last few years. One for March 2013 is here http://www.birdlifecyprus.org/upload/PDFs/Sightings Archive/sightings_mar13.pdf.pdf
