Hello,

What are your opinions on the best (preferably free) listing software, I use RBA at the moment but would be good to have a permanent one that doesn't expire when the subscription runs out. also one that I can keep lots of lists on (year, british, world, county, patch)

cheers :)

Best listing software is using an online database. EBird is my favorite (see link in my signature). It's well-funded by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, U.S. National Science Foundation, and others, so it will be around for a while, and it's totally free and non-commercial. It will do everything you describe. Taxonomy updates are automatic, so no need to mess with updates.
