Hi all,
since a couple of months there is a new birding website online for Niger, West Africa: The NiBDaB (Niger Bird DataBase).
Users can add their observations, upload photos (see for example this nice shot of a Sooty falcon from the Air mountains, in the middle of the Sahara), see distribution maps, and browse all locations on integrated Google maps. But I don't want to spent too many words presenting the website, please just pop over and have a look. It would be very interesting to hear your opinion
The site has been developed by myself, with a lot of contributions from my good friend Joost Brouwer in Holland, who, like myself, lived in Niger for several years, and who has collected a lot of ornithological observations.
Since such a website lives from the contribution of dedicated birders, I hereby encourage all here in the forum who have visited Niger to enter some of their observations into the system. We have currently almost 26000 observations of 450 species in the database, making Niger the best covered country in West Africa.
All the best and happy birding!
