Grafham Water 9 Aug evening; just a single Dunlin and Common Sandpiper on the dam after a lot of rain......

Yellow Wagtails building up now

Grafham Water 18 Aug evening : flock of 6 Common Sandpipers distantly on the dam so can't rule out the alternative....

On Saturday there were 7 Common Sandpipers together, but none of them look to be anything better than this (sadly). Spotted Sandpiper is now surely over-due for Grafham Water.....

Other highlights on Saturday included; 2 Black Terns, juv Whinchat, cream-crowned Marsh Harrier high SE early morning, Hobby, Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Greenshank, 6 Green Sandpipers, 20+ Yellow Wagtails and 15+ Swifts.

Grafham Water 25 Aug evening; on arrival at the dam found out that a White-winged Black Tern was off Mander so 2 minutes dash resulted in reasonably good views from the fishing lodge. (Found by RP earlier). It was still roosting on a buoy until 20:10 when disturbed by a black back gull then lost in the dusk.

Grafham Water 29 Aug evening; a fall of around 100 Yellow Wagtails on the dam; very flighty so couldn't find the prize bird... 3 Ringed Plovers and 2 Common Sandpipers too.

Grafham Water 2 Sep early am before the fog...
70+ Yellow wagtails and at least the same Pied on the dam prior to 07:00 Also a single Ruff
Several Green Sandpipers in the lagoons with the Lapwing flock plus an easy Cettis warbler

Grafham Water 15 evening; thanks MH , a quick re-orientation from the dam resulted on brief distant views of the Juv Sabine's Gull from beyond Hill Farm before it flew over to 'Dudney' point.
Extreme record shots in the rain.....

Proper record shots Matthew. I love those kind of pictures. I'm glad you and David got there to see it. Shame the rain and light were so poor during that time.

Grafham Water 17 Sep ; Little Stint still early am then a return dash for the reported Leach's Petrel. No one watching it for ages (??); then some reasonable record shots. Re-found it at west end following a long flight through the gulls. Flocks of 10 + BhG's chasing it around, I left it at that point..... https://www.flickr.com/photos/140874789@N04/37114904142/in/album-72157664662036243/lightbox/

Fine adjustments to image to improve exposure and sharpening

Nice to see the forked tail and dark bar through the rump that are very difficult to pick in the field at range.

Grafham Water 27 Sep evening on the dam; just a Yellow-legged Gull and no phalaropes of either species...

I see it was identified as Red-necked ; assume it was seen close in then from somewhere; does anyone know where? They can hide out very well and Red-necked is on my wanted list still!!
