Damaged wing (1 Viewer)

What are the odds on a bird surviving a wing injury?

There is a magpie hopping around the garden with one wing positioned considerably lower than the other. Obviously it can't fly.

At the moment he's resting in an old overturned water butt. Call me soft, but I put some leaves and stuff in it, plus some food and water. I can't put it out of its misery.

I guess he'll be dinner for the red kite soon?

If he definitely cannot fly you might want to catch him and take him to a wildlife rehabilitator. They may be able to mend the wing and release him. Otherwise they will put him down- maybe a loss for the local predators but maybe perhaps more humane for the poor magpie :(
