Birding for fun
After yesterday's rain I thought an early start around the parish (East Herts.) Was expecting a wheatear or two on the local golf course, but nothing apart from a willow warbler. So, off to another habitat, small lake and willow. I arrived to hear and then see a green sandpiper. This was my 101st bird for the parish. Excellent. a little later, a female redstart (bird 102!!) and then, 3 trees along, a female pied flycatcher (bird 103 for the parish)
Three ticks within an hour. To put into context, since Christmas Eve 2009 I have had 5 new birds for the parish. 3 today. Previous 2 were greylag goose and little grebe.
See http://littlehadhambirding.blogspot.co.uk for details and few dodgy photos.
regards,
Jono
