What about the Kite Optics Lynx HD 8x32? I am considering replacing my Monarch 7 with those!
I guess that will be after your eye test as Kite don't offer the Lynx HD in 8x32
Kite do, however, sell a brown paper bag range of economy bins, very popular in Africa, under their micro-brand 'Bynnex' : http://bynnex.com/index.htm |=\|

HighNorth - my wife has the 8x30 Monarchs and I have the 8x30 Lynx so I've been able to compare the two closely. To be honest there's not a huge difference optically and I suspect that 95% of the time you'd be happy with the Monarchs. The Kite's eyecups have the irritating tendency of sliding down which I resolved by buying some soft rubber washers from 'Wilkinsons' to slip in place to keep them raised.

Well, I should have said "complement" rather than "replace", as I own the Monarch 7 in 8x42, and I'm looking for a good quality 8x32 bin to take on longer non-motorised trips in the wilderness where the size and weight of the full size bin is not welcome. That said, I am very satisfied with the Monarch "platform", except the poor quality eyecups, and I have been looking at the M7 8x30 as well.
It does seem like the Lynx HD has its own eyecup-problems though. Do you know if its a general problem with the Lynx, or just that particular pair?
Thanks for the links to the threads! I'll check them out! :t:
