Hi, once again I know that there are many days and possibly more species to go this year but I thought that I would get the bulk of the species sorted. It was a good year in general for me with thirty three species being noted. I did manage to get photographs of all of them but the quality was not always Countryfile calendar standard so apologies for that.

As with the dragonflies I'm including the location and date of the first sightings plus any other information that may be of interest.

1/ Peacock. Corby Old Village 9th of March.

2/ Brimstone. Summer Leys 13th of March.

3/ Small Tortoiseshell. Near Corby sewage works 19th of March.

4/ Comma. Near Glapthorn Cow Pasture 2nd of April.

5/ Orange-tip. Near Corby sewage works 8th of April.

Well I didn't expect to be back on here again so soon but I must have had a hunch as....

34/ Clouded Yellow. One at Priors Hall was sadly not photographed as it flew purposefully past.

A quick post in order to replace the picture of an out of county White-lettered Hairstreak with this one taken today at Barnwell CP. It's a little bit tatty but it is at least a Northants one.

Oh dear, someone with much better I.D skills than me has exposed my stringy ways and revealed my White-letter to be a Purple. Still we got there in the end and it's a better picture than my previous one of Purple!

James.

A return to Priors Hall gave me the opportunity to catch up with Clouded Yellow again. Seven separate sightings though I have no idea how many individuals were involved.

Well I guess that the season really is all but over with perhaps just a hardy Comma or Red Admiral left to see. I thought that I would finish with my favourite butterfly picture of the year but seeing as that comes from Spain I thought I better put my favourite Northants one in too.

James.
