Hi all,
Anyone know if this is a Amazonian Barred Woodcreeper, or Black-banded Woodcreeper, which seem to be similar from this angle,
thanks

I'd say Black-banded as I expect a much more obvious barring on mantle for Amazonian Barred W.

Agree - most forms of ABW also have reddish bills (versus clearly black in this bird) although I cannot recall if birds in Eastern Colombia have red bills. From memory, I think Vaupes birds at least are reddish.

cheers, alan

For me the bill is straight and heavy enough, the back shows no barring, and there is some streaking coming down off the neck to the upper chest that I would lean Black-banded as well. Of note, though, on Amazonian Barred is that beyond subspecies variation, juveniles will have a dusky/horn colored bill as well.
