Starling with deformed beak? Malta (1 Viewer)

Just back from a spot of garden watching from the bathroom window:)king:). The usual 5-10 starlings where about, but today I noticed that one had a strange looking beak. The beak looked like a hoopoe's more than a starling's! Sorry no pic, camera is damaged. My questions are: Is this rare? and Will it survive?

I have not seen this myself but have seen a couple of pics of ones that have hoopoe like bills and they seem to survive fine if not a bit more hard work feeding.
