National Geographic Bird App Data Loss (1 Viewer)

After updating my ipad to IOS 8 I lost all of my data. (bird lists, my journal info...) does anyone have any solutions to getting my data back on my iPad?

I am not sure how to check the iCloud backup on my iPad, but I will try? This is what is strange. I have the same app on my iPhone and I still have all of the data there. My iPhone is an iPhone 4 and it won't upgrade to ios8. Before I updated my iPad to iOS 8, I could add birds to either devise and it would automatically be added to the other devise. That was what was so cool about the app. Now all of the data is on the iPhone, and nothing is on the iPad. I will look into the iCloud backup. Thanks
