Scotland in October? (1 Viewer)

G'day
I'm in Scotland on a non birding holiday in October 2011. We'll spend a few days on the Isle of Skye, Oban and Inverness and likely a couple of nights in Edinburgh. Any advice most welcome.

Cheers

Are there any birds you're particularly keen to see John? You'll probably do better in coastal areas than in the uplands in October.

G'day Andrew
Thanks for your response. I'm originally from Yorkshire, but many years in Oz consequently I'll be happy to see anything really. If I had to choose I would have a liking for ducks/geese, which fits with your advice about coastal rather than uplands?

Hi John. Must say I don't envy your flight. Marmot has provided some decent links. I'd recommend a stop at the bewery in Aviemore as an alternative- you did say it was a non-birding trip ;-). You can pick this up on your way South from Inverness. The Findhorn valley off ther A9 South of Inverness is also good for raptors.

Have a good trip,

Rich
