It's amazing the places they find to nest, at least one lot has fledged successfully.

And you are right, some idiot will do something stupid and childish (assuming they haven't already).

I somehow missed the fact that they had fledged |:$| Must read my own posts properly;) There were two similar threads like this last year.

lol, I've done that before. I see a story, think others will find it interesting, post it, then forget to actually read it. Or at least I only skim through it.

I wonder what it is about ashtrays, hole size?, location?, the fact that nobody is allowed to use them anymore?

I also wonder if it's worth putting one up in the garden.|=)|

That's exactly what I did, seen the story and thought it would be interesting to post here but didn't read it properly my self.

It's probably the holes that attract them, they look perfect size for Blue Tits.
I might recommend ashtrays for my dad. He has two nest boxes that have never been used.

Maybe we can go into business here. Get hold of loads of ashtrays and flog them to pet shops and garden centres as up market nest boxes.

lol, that might actually be worth considering. Although it's more likely that we'll both forget about this, then at some point in the future, see them being sold for silly money. In fact, I bet someone who read this thread is researching it right now.|=)|
