Administrator
Welcome to Bird Forum, the friendliest discussion forum on the Internet. Please follow these guidelines to help keep it that way.

Respect other members:
Remember: treat others as you would expect to be treated yourself.

We have members from all around the world; please be sensitive to and respectful of the opinions, religions, traditions and cultures of others. Avoid racial, religious and political comments.

Please do not post messages containing personal attacks. We do encourage healthy debate but not slanging matches. There is a difference between disagreeing with an opinion and a personal attack, so please think before you post. We will remove posts that are abusive, disruptive, or out of context.

Respect the general rules:
No offensive language and profanity. Posts to be conducted in English language only please. Do not include clickable e-mail addresses or phone numbers in your posts. If you need to include an e-mail address, please type it as example 'at' example.com

No commercial posts in the forums. This is a post where someone with an interest in a company, business, or product promotes a product or service and provides a link, email address, or phone number for the purpose of selling the product or service. If you would like to promote your product/service, please contact admin. If you do own a bird or nature related company, you may add a signature to your posts containing a link to your site but you may not direct members to visit this site in the text of your post.

In a similar vein, please do not use our forums for the sole purpose of promoting your personal website. eg. joining up and then posting 'please visit my website'.

Links to other bird or nature related forum/community sites are not permitted, neither is the promotion of sites such as these via any communication system on birdforum i.e. private messaging, e-mail or chatroom.

Please do not post material that is protected by copyright, unless you are the copyright holder or have the author's permission.

Please stay on topic as far as possible. If you want to discuss a different subject, start a new thread - don't hijack someone else’s thread.
Hint: If your comments don't match the title of the thread, you are probably off topic.

Please - no discussions relating to hunting, pigeon racing, the keeping of caged birds, captive birds or falconry. BirdForum is about the enjoyment and appreciation of WILD birds and other WILDLIFE. Please help us keep BirdForum wild. We do not wish to encourage nest distrubance in any form, and for this reason please do not upload photos of nests or eggs to BirdForum.

Signatures. If we feel your signature link leads to a website liable to cause bad feeling amongst our membership and disrupt the friendly atmosphere on our website, we will remove it. eg. a website where trophy hunting is a feature.

A number of popular topics have already been discussed, e.g. domestic cats, baby birds, injured birds, etc., Please perform a search for previous threads before posting your question, as it may already have been answered. But please do not resurrect old threads, start a new one if need be.

Please choose your forum username with care. Any name regarded as offensive or otherwise unsuitable for a public forum will be edited by admin. Large strings of random characters are not welcome as usernames, please be sensible.

New Member Restrictions
In an attempt to prevent certain abuses of our site, new members have a handful of minor restrictions placed upon them until they have made 10 forum posts (gallery comments do not count) AND have been a member of the site for 5 days. The following minor restrictions apply to new members who have not qualified with the above criteria, i.e. Creating a signature, creating a blog, editing Opus, creating a 'For Sale' thread and voting in polls.

Only one account/identity per person. Anyone found to be using more than one identity for mischievous purposes is very likely to find themselves without any account at birdforum. We tend to merge new accounts into old ones, so if you post something controversial with a second account, it could end up in tears for you. You will be found out if you do it!
If you have an account issue, please contact admin via the 'contact us' form at the bottom of any BF page.

Respect the Gallery photos:
Remember that the copyright belongs to the person who took the photo. Please do not use any of the Gallery photos without first obtaining the permission of the photographer.
Hint: To get more comments on your photos, comment on others’ photos first.

Respect the moderators:
Remember, all the moderators give their time freely and try to keep the peace and encourage fair and reasonable discussion. Please try to understand their decisions, which are always made in the interest of the forum and its members. Do not post your grievances on the forums, if you have a problem you should contact a member of staff.
