Black bird, yellow curved beak (1 Viewer)

I saw a black bird on a wire, crow sized, with a yellow beak. The beak was very distinctive due to both the colour (yellow) and the curvature (downward, similar to a parrot's beak).

Hi, welcome to birdforum.

Was the bird black-black like a crow, or was it just dark? Did you see it from the front or the back?

I am thinking along the same line as Steveo. Many hawks can be pretty dark and can show some yellow on the beak, and they would have a curved bill like you described.

A Red-tailed hawk would be larger than a crow, but could be a possibility.
