Seeking photographs of several common Northeastern U.S. birds

I am currently assisting the a major university's arboretum in developing avian education curriculum for children. I'm in the process of creating 12" x 12" placards that feature 20 common Pennsylvania (but often found elsewhere) feeder and/or backyard birds. These placards are non-permanent (not mounted permanently) and will be used as "props" as part of the new curriculum.

Further details:

The photographer will retain ALL rights (both digital and nondigital) to his or her images and will be CREDITED on the reverse of the placard. I will require contributors to sign a legal contract confirming that neither I, nor the university, will hold any rights to images. No payment will be made in exchange for images.

Images must be suitable for print:

* At least 8" x 8" (even larger is better!)
* 240-300dpi
* Clear, sharp, well-lit
* Low ISO (500 or less; lower is preferable)
* Bird's face must be in focus
* Bird must not obscured by branches
* Feet are not important (can be obscured, cut off, etc.)
* Wings and tail must generally be included (not cut off)
* Generally seeking profile / profile-ish photos
* Not currently seeking birds in flight

I am seeking photographs of the following birds:

* American Robin
* Black-capped / Carolina Chickadee
* Downy Woodpecker - horizontal pose
* Red-bellied Woodpecker - horizontal pose
* Mourning Dove
* Red-tailed Hawk - showing red tail
* Cooper's Hawk - preferably something slightly non-vertical; straight up-and-down doesn't convert well to a square placard!
* Northern Mockingbird - preferably with tail cocked upwards
* Gray Catbird - preferably with tail cocked upwards; rufous vent showing is a bonus!

If you are interested in contributing images to this project, please contact me at ajp2487 @ gmail [dot] com. I'm on a rather tight deadline and would be very appreciative of contributions. I would be happy to tell you if your images would work for the project and will send photos of the finished placards so you can see your work in print! I've included a sample placard to show how photos will be used.

Hi AJP

You could look in the Gallery here and if you find a suitable image PM the poster for permission.

The easiest way to do it is via Opus - here's a link to the Cooper's Hawk page, just scroll to the bottom and click on the yellow Gallery Search banner.

Remember too Wiki Commons has lots of photos available for free use under Creative Commons license; search by the scientific name of the species, thus:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Turdus_migratorius for American Robin
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Poecile_atricapillus for Black-capped Chickadee
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Picoides_pubescens for Downy Wp
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Melanerpes_carolinus for Red-bellied Wp
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Zenaida_macroura for Mourning Dove
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Buteo_jamaicensis for Red-tailed Hawk
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Accipiter_cooperii for Cooper's Hawk
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Mimus_polyglottus for N Mockingbird
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Dumetella_carolinensis for Gray Catbird
Select the photos you desire from the thumbnails in the category; those over 2-3 MB should be adequate.

All you then need do is (as you're already planning) credit the photographer, and state the CC license the picture is given under (e.g. cc-by-sa 3.0).
