Today 11 of us worked around the reserve.
. removing Himalayan balsam along the salwarp
. cleared small channel in sluice pipe area
. refitted sluice pipe
. cleared along some of the paths
. cleared in front of the Hen pool, only a small section at the moment. A larger
area will be cut in August

The cleared area will give views of reed warbler , water rail and a crake????8-P

surely there are loads of fresh looking ones :-O

True, but not that many in the midlands :t: . The amount of the buffy grey/brown on head varies somewhat in individuals. This bird doesn't have particularly the heaviest Bill that i've seen on a Med either, in fact looking rather small and weak.
More than happy to be proved wrong, the more Med Gulls around the better :-O

That's quite a clear-out of Avocet since the week-end. Any Oystercatcher at the Moors Pool?
 
As we approach the final few days of July the monthly list stands on 93. Possible species still to be added include (year ticks in bold):

Pochard, Garganey, Ruff, Redshank (the first time since proper records began it has yet to be recorded in July), Wood Sandpiper, Yellow-legged Gull, Black Tern, Little Owl, Tawny Owl, Cuckoo, Spotted Flycatcher, Coal Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper (not recorded in June either), Yellowhammer
