I spotted these at an Arboretum yesterday. At first I thought the yellow/red fungi were rose petals until closer inspection! A delight to see.

Any help with an ID will be most appreciated.

Hi Pam,

It's difficult to say for sure without looking at the underside, but the brownish-coloured 'toadstools' seem to be Sulphur tuft Hypholoma fasciculare.

I'm sure the red and yellow things are actually petals :)

Cheers,
Nick

HI Nick,

Thank you for the 'toadstools' ID:t:

Regarding the 'red and yellow' things all I can say is they were doing a pretty darn good job at imitating fungi!:eek!: I had my eyes tested yesterday but not at Specsavers, maybe I should pay them a visit.;)

I may visit the arboretum again tomorrow and investigate, I will update if there is anything further to add.:h?:

Well it would seem that my 'closer inspection' was rubbish and that I should have gone with my instincts in the first place. They are definitely rose petals.|:$|

The carvery is ace at the arboretum so it was no big deal checking out the 'petals' today!
