Thanks, I was thrilled to be there when it happened. They had only just fledged, and at one point one even landed on my shoulder (this happened to me once before with a GT a few years back)

After failing miserably with getting to grips with any Macro settings, I took a tip off the SX50 thread by IanF. Used full zoom and the 1.5 converter with more favourable results.

Hey John

Some cracking shots there and really good depth of field. Wish I knew about that yesterday when I was trying to photograph orchids. Will give it a try.

Cheers Ken, from previous posts in the 2 SX threads I don't think anyone has got to grips with Macro mode yet, so the tip off IanF with the 1.5 is definitely worth trying.

Thanks, I'll definitely give that a try. I rarely use my SX40 for Macro as I see that as it's biggest weakness, so I'll be iterested to see what the results are like.
