I am thinking of selling my Sigma APO 500mm EX HSM (id number 2001868)
What would be a sensible price? It's obviously not one of the new DG range (I've had it at least 5 years), but I would like to know people's thoughts.

Nick it might be helpful to state the type of fit the lens is and comment on its general condition and in particular the condition of the optics. As it happens I have been considering asking the same question but I am not sure I want to part with mine.

It's a Nikon fit and the optics look in really good nick. There are some signs of wear and tear on the outer casings but nothing too serious. The truth is, the lens never gets used!

Have you tried using an advanced search with the keywords "Sigma 500mm f4.5" and just selecting the For Sale Forum. That way you can see what price others have sold there's for and what condition they were in. There was one FS very recently if memory serves and it too was Nikon Fit (BTW which fit it is doesn't affect the value of it).

If it helps, I bought mine (also Nikon fit) from Mifsuds earlier this year,it is the DG version.I paid £2450 for it.
