U.S.A. California....Identify this bird, please. (1 Viewer)

I live in northern central California, and a flock of these birds has visited our fruitless pear tree. Can't identify it. Dec. 27, 2016

This bird is good-sized, has a buff breast fading into yellow. The underside of the tip of the tail is yellow. The face has a white v stripe. The head has a tuft.

As an aside, your tree is far from fruitless - there's a heavy crop on it, which is of course what has attracted the waxwing to feed there. They're just a wild-type pear with fruit which isn't pleasant for people to eat, but birds are happy with it :t:
