Where are you looking Tiger? I've got the same result as Kawwauser on the Osprey Tracking site. The last pointer for Blue Boy is 19 September at Saint-Jean de Luz.

While Blue YD was at Tiznit on the 23rd.

EDIT: Sorry, we cross posted Tiger, but that's the same screen as I've been looking at.

I was looking on Google Earth where you can trace Blue 44 point by point.

He has not moved in that he seems to be on a stopover which is normal for ospreys.

He ceratinly has moved around that lake.

I would imagine that there would be a new download of data today.

Aaaargh.... got there eventually, by blowing the map up, so he retraced his steps it appears, I suppose there's good feeding there, or perhaps he's waiting for the right wind direction? We live and learn!

Thanks Tiger.

Thanks Tiger.
It is perfectly normal for young ospreys to do stopovers. If you followed Nethy and Deshar in 2008 they both did stopovers in the south of England.

Rothes did a stopover in France.

I think that Mallachie stopped at exactly the same place as Blue 44.

Thanks Tiger, he does seem to be enjoying himself in France, zigzagging all over the place.

Blue 44 was photographed in Spain on 9th November. I think the next set of data came in on 11th November but there has been none since.

Clearly his tracker has suffered a major malfuntion. The question is the malfunction because Blue 44 has come to harm.

In these cases it is almost always because the bird has come to harm but Blue 44 may be an exception.

That area that Blue 44 was in was thought to be safe as another famous osprey viz. green J winters not far away and has done for over twenty years.

On the other hand an osprey can fly a long way in a day.

We may never know what happened to blue 44

Perhaps we should start a new thread for 2013?

Red face

A clean slate - yes, that's a good idea.
