Sparrow like bird seen in Baja California Sur (1 Viewer)

The attached sparrow like bird was seen 5/22 near a fresh water lagoon in southern Baja CA. I have been wrong on my last 3-4 IDs so I am not even going to venture a guess, but I have an idea.

Looks like a maximally drab California Towhee. See the light cinnamon color on the undertail coverts.

I would agree with both of you. I wasn't sure, and still am not, but the cinnamon under the tail did not fit any of our resident sparrows. Have never seen a male C Towhee here but I know they are sighted here occasionally.
The first photo was shot with flash and the second one was not.
Thank you for your help.
