not exactly certain about this sparrow.it was among defiant song sparrows and a savannah,savannah being darker.thanks for the help as always.

It's a Savannah, but not an Ipswich.

Yes, and the bird in question lacks yellow lores as well.

Mark's pictures are more what I think of as Ipswich - pale, almost frosty, plumage.

FWIW I only see a hint of yellow in the lores on my monitor.
