Birding applications for windows mobile smartphones (1 Viewer)

I see there are several threads with applications for iPhone and android, but not many for windows smartphones (at least I couldn´t find it), so I thought to make a new thread just for win mobile applications.

There were several discussions regarding Collins eGuide which is excellent application, but unfortunately I could not make it run on my phone... so I found some similar application that is absolutely FREE:

Aviasoft Pocket birds - European birds http://www.aviasoft.org/pocketbirds.html
Someone posted a link to this application in one old thread but since the original version came out, the application evolved in many ways, it has many new features now that the original version didn´t have (GPS notes etc), and if you have a win mobile smartphone it is a "must have".

The only downside, at least on my smartphone (Garmin Asus Nuvifone M10) is that sometimes when you are browsing pages and click on "next" button, the next page loads a bit slow. I noticed that in the other application Nature Explorer, from the same web site http://www.aviasoft.org/natureexplorer.html pages load a bit faster and it also has eGuides for: butterflies, insects, fungi, wild flowers, marine life and trees! On a side note, both of these applications have a version for PC too.

If anyone knows of some more birding applications for windows mobile please post them here. :)

I realise this is an old thread but it seemed to fit the bill. The link to aviasoft doesn't work any longer but I came across this one instead: http://aviasoft.software.informer.com/.

I was wondering which apps or software are people using now on their Windows phones, please? I'd like to find something akin to the iphone app, Birds of Northern Europe, if possible.

I look forward to hearing what others are using and how useful they find the applications.
Many thanks

Hi,
I take it from the lack of responses that good birding ID/field guide type apps for Windows phones either don't exist or aren't being used. Not to worry. :t:
Thanks,
Hobbes

Follow some of the links to try to find software there and you may end up with more than you bargained for.

Hi Andrew
Thanks for your reply. I assume you mean the link to Aviasoft Birds of Europe? I'd be interested to hear what users thought of this s/w, if anyone is using it? I haven't come across anything else for Windows phones that resembles the iphone Birds of Northern Europe app.
Thanks
Hobbes

The Aviasoft stuff is for the old Windows mobile OS not the new Windows phone. It is also of dubious legality as the illustrations seem to be scans of copyrighted print bird books.

There is not much available for Windows Phone birdy wise, but this is fun http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/store/app/bird-quiz/2ad4b845-4ada-4256-8fe7-54d2084931a8

The RSPB guide is available http://www.windowsphone.com/en-gb/s...sh-birds/0d0ed04a-7579-4fdc-a330-6f13263051dc

Thanks Mono
It's something for a Windows 8 OS phone, I'm after. Not to worry. Looks like there's not much out there.
All the best
