Canada Geese or Cackling Geese? (1 Viewer)

I believe that we have Cackling Geese in our area, but I'm not sure if I've noticed them before since they look very similar to Canada Geese. I believe that they are smaller and have shorter necks. I'm not sure what to think of the geese I saw today. They look like Canada Geese, but have unusually short necks. Could these be Cackling Geese? I saw these at the Serpentine Fen Bird Sanctuary near White Rock BC.

No, just smallish Canadas; much too large and long-billed for Cacklers.

Ditto Canadas.

Cackling have stubby little beaks - looks at pics of Barnacle Geese for a similar bill shape.

Here is a picture similar to yours, but showing what are actually both Canada and Cackling Geese. Both species vary so the difference is not always as great as seen here.
