Been out yesterday and have a few fly bys I'm not sure about.

I will keep adding the ones that I'm unsure of (am going through the files right now).

These I at first thought Curlew Sandpiper, but the length of bill just didn't convince me.
Little Stint?

And another two shots. Guess I am just brain dead today - too much sun yesterday ;)

And Nr 5: Whimbrel or Curlew (I think Curlew - long bill) - tough to tell, I know, but maybe someone finds a clue :)

All these little guys start to look the same for me *argh*

In the second photo I am wondering about the brown top wing of the first Gull. There were a few flocks of Slender-billed Gulls, all looking worse for wear, but this one just looks different.

Shot nr. 3&4 - that's more like Curlew Sandpiper, I think (longer bill than above)....

and some dark bellied fellows hiding in the last photo - Dunlin?

Molding Gull-billed Tern on Nr 1?

Sandwich Tern (1st wt) in nr 2?

Nr 3 leaves me clueless....

Nr. 4 maybe the same bird as Nr 3 (1st wt Slender-billed?)

Nr. 5 - do bee-eaters sometimes pull in their neck or is this one an oddball? He looks weird

Hi Nicole
you are almost correct for all
Little Stint and Curlew
then again Little, flock of Curlew SP with Dunlin and even Little Tern (or Saunders? I hate terns)
1. Gull-billed 2. Common? (did I tell you that I hate terns? 3:)), 3. Slender-billed gull, the only beautiful one

Have a nice day
Tom

Thanks, Tom!

What do you make of the second flock in post 1? (Photo 3&4)

And of the first Gull in the second post, second photo?

The Terns in that flock of CSP are Little Terns. Got them separate :)

1,2,3,4 Little Stint
5 Eur Curlew ( bill shape isn't right for Whimbrel, too evenly curved )
6 Sanderling ( really white with a bold wingbar )
7 Slender-billed Gull ( proportionally long bill, 'flat' and 'long' forehead and beady eye )
8,9 Curlew Sandpipers
10 Yes, thats a Dunlin. The terns are Little (size, bill and white rumps )
11 Sandwich Tern
12 Common Tern?
13, 14 Slender-billed Gull ( see 7 ;) )
15 Blue-cheeked Bee-eater.

Chris

Thanks, Chris!

Edit: I need a new brain.

Just scratch what I wrote before *grin* - but this is the same bird as Nr. 12

The tern in the first photo looks to have a much heavier bill than that of the other two photos and a less 'black' cap. That could be down to a photographic artifact, but I'm more inclined to go with the two bird theory.

Chris

PS: Nice bird count during the clean up:

Slender-billed Gull (85), Barn swallow (5), Curlew Sandpiper (66), Little Stint (34), Curlew (4), Gull-billed Tern (5), Dunlin (4), Sandwich Tern (4), Red-backed Shrike (7 male & 3 female), Willow Warbler (1), Little Tern (2), Yellow Wagtail (1), Ruddy Turnstone (9), Blue-cheeked Bee-eater (3), European Bee-eater (1), Sanderling (1), House Sparrow (12), Common Tern (1)

18 species
