January 2006 theme challenge - 'Anything Goes' (1 Viewer)

IanF

Moderator
The theme for January 2006 is 'Anything Goes'.

The 'anything' refers to any living bird, animal or insect or combination in one photo.

The rules must be adhered to in order to avoid disqualification. The Moderators decision is final.

Rules -

1. Entry to have been taken in the last twelve months.
2. Date taken to be included in the entry - must at least include month and year.
3. Entry to be uploaded between now and the 21st midnight (GMT).
4. Entries must contain a wild living creature.
5. Location taken to be included and must include county/state and country.
6. One entry per member.
7. Only minor image adjustment is permitted, such as cropping, sharpening, contrast, and levels. The photo must not be otherwise greatly manipulated ie. objects should not be added / removed in order to enhance the shot - no composite images.
8. Once uploaded a photo is classed as an entry and cannot be replaced by another shot. However you have until the closing date / time of this competition to ensure that your photo meets the criteria.
9. The entry must be your own work and not previously submitted in a competition on this site.
10. The subject's common name must be given - though please add the scientific too!
11. Entries to be uploaded directly by entrants to the Monthly Photo Competitions Gallery.

A voting booth will be posted after the 21st.

Please note 30 entries will be selected for addition to the voting booth for members to vote upon.

Entries not selected for inclusion in the voting booth will be moved to their respective Geographical Gallery forum.

Comments on entries are permitted.

Any queries about this months competition - please post below.

Hi Ian

Any chance you could move the picture in my gallery entitled 'What Waterfall?' into this month's competition?

Many thanks.

Hi Sean,

Rather than moving a photo, can you please upload another copy in order to enter the competition as per rule 11.

I know we tried moving photos in a previous competition but it wasn't a success.

I'm a newcomer please help

I'd love to enter the monthly photo competition. I understand the rules but would just like to know if there is a certain size photo that is best or required for the competition. I noticed that the profile picture is requested as
100 x 100.
Your help would be appreciated so I can enter before the deadline
Thanks
Renee

The maximum gallery size is 800 x800 pizels and 200kb.

Hope this helps, so any size just beneath those limits should do. don't forget to comply to all the rules as we get some real stunners which don't get through to the voting stage because of this.

Did I do it ??

I have just completed what I think is the correct method to submit a photo into January's competition.
I went to the link in the list of competition rules that told be how to upload my photo. But I now see it in the gallery, but am not sure if it is actually an entry in the competition...
How can I tell if I did the right thing ?!*?
Please help
Thanks, Renee

I just did a similar thing to Renee when I uploaded a picture for the competition. I'd previously uploaded the same picture to my gallery and now I find there are two copies of the same picture in my gallery, is this normal?

This is an old thread that refers to the January 2006 competition.

Ian hasn't posted what next years competitions are yet.

Details of the 2007 themes haven't been posted yet - this thread was for January 2006 but for the January 2007 competition any photographic technique is permitted.

Warning! This thread is more than 18 years ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
