Had my first taste of Spring today with a Small Tortoiseshell butterfly and some Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara) in flower.
Birdwise, I'd describe it as ok, the tide being too far out to be particularly good, but still got a list of some 27 species for a 1.5 mile walk (there & back) along the southern bank of Breydon Water with the light wind still bitingly cold despite the almost cloudless blue sky & sunshine.
Greater Black-backed Gull
Common Gull
Black-headed Gull
Herring Gull
Cormorant ~ 30
Shelduck
Pintail ~30
Wigeon
Teal
Mallard
Coot
Mute Swan x 3
Grey Heron x 2
Lapwing
Golden Plover
Curlew
Black-tailed Godwit
Avocet ~10
