Anyone ID this for me, taken near Imataca in Jan this year.

It is Red-footed. There are only three native species of terrestrial chelonians in mainland South America, and one of them, Chaco Tortoise, only occurs in Paraguay and Argentina, as the name suggests.

The ranges of the other two, Yellow-footed and Red-footed, do overlap in the north. Don't know whether Yellow-footed gets up quite as far as Venezuela, but this is definitely Red-footed from the pattern of pre-frontal scales on the nose, one large with smaller ones on each side in Red-footed, two large scales in Yellow.
