Rose Breasted Grosbeak? (1 Viewer)

Hummer-crazy
I live in NE Georgia, and i have what looks to be a male rose breasted grosbeak at my feeder. He's shown up in the past week. All the looking I've done on these birdsindicates that they're a northern bird, and their range stops will north of where I am. Is is possible that I've mis-identified, or ARE there RBGB's in Georgia?

Most definitely, lucky you! :t: Actually, they're an eastern NA bird, not northern. They summer east of the Rockies from the Gulf and southern Atlantic coasts and breed in roughly the northeastern half of the US and east of the Rockies in Canada.

You are certainly in the migrating zones as I am. Mine stayed around for a few days and then moved on. Did you see any females?

Saw one female, but she dissapeared a few days ago. I saw the male again today. He only visits for a few hours a day, but he chases everyone (including the cardinals and testy house finches) off while he's around.

I had a pair of males for for three days, Wed, Thu, Fri, of last week. Never did see a female. I sure did get some good tape of them- they are gorgeous.
