I can add a few more White-legs and plenty of Banded Dems, a couple of Southern Hawkers and Black-tailed Skimmers and a few Blue-tailed Damsels from between the lock and Elton Bridge. Plus this rather natty Subalpine Warbler (actually there was a family of 5 of them ;) ).

Did you go later in the day I was there between 10.30 - 12.30
The Southern Hawkers do like to hang around for photo's don't
they, of cause I am a bit blinkered also eyesight is failing I lost
my day/driving glasses there thats what I thought looked in
all the pockets got to car and they were hanging off the Vee
of my tee-shirt where I had put them had to laugh.. the Warblers
I could hear thought they were over the other bank...

I will go there again on a much more sunny day (ho please God)
the whiteleg I got looks Immature and would like to get mature
male & female pics also a better close up shot of a banded female

My next Damselfly would be a Emerald where's best for that

Was there a bit later. Both my shots were digiscoped.

Emerald Damsels are at Elton too but not that many and I've always done much better for them at Castor Hanglands. Park at your peril (leave nothing valuable in the car) at the gate by the road at TF124016, follow the track continuing roughly perpendicular to the road for c.500m until you enter the wood and come to the ponds at TF119016. These ponds are an odonata fan's dream anyway but are particularly good for Emerald Damsels. There are records of Scarce Emerald from there too but the habitat doesn't seem right to me.

Thanks Brian

Yours pics are nice what camera/scope are you using

I will put that on the list (TF119016) after I have been
back to Elton again for the Whitelegs

Canon A640 and Leica APO77 with 20x eyepiece. Shame it decided to focus on the flowerhead rather than the whitethroat in that last pic though.

1st Div then with that set-up. Mine is the Sony Cyber-shot DSC N2 with
Nikon 82mm Scope RAIII WP 2nd Div . If the hobby keeps me busy
might upgrade the scope next year I just have to get to grips with
the Camera like most people the focus is the biggist problem and
trying to get ultra sharp pics. Well any sharp pic will do

The big problem is not knowing its not sharp until you get home
and look at it on the Computer even with the Sony 3" screen
must take more pics when on site....

But your Warbler was a nice shot even though you point out
its not in perfect focus..................
