homemade adapters info (1 Viewer)

So much depends on the particular eyepiece construction and the camera.

My main approach for standard 1.25" type eyepieces is to ream out a piece of PVC pipe so that the inside diameter creates a tight "press" fit with the outside of an eyepiece. I then epoxy a 37mm filter ring (just get a cheap or used 37mm filter and pop out the glass) to one end. I usually use a 37mm filter so that the entire eye lens remains unobscured for regurlar use and then use a 37mm to 28mm step ring to bring the thread to 28mm for my Coolpix cameras.

The simplest adapter, and one that makes sense for inexpensive optics and optics that have a very short eye relief is to simply epoxy a filter ring or step adapter directly to the eyepiece. I've now done that with an inexpensive 14x50 scope (http://www.jayandwanda.com/coolpix/captain/captain.html), an inexpensive 25mm Plossl eyepiece and just recently, a relatively expensive Televue Plossl eyepiece.

I have no idea what approach would be good for your scope since I have no idea of its construction, cost and/or eye relief. But here is a sampling of some of my adaptions.

Good luck.

I have a Coolpix 4500 and use a Marmite jar lid, with a strip of inner tube glued to the inside to make snug fit over my Kowa eyepiece, and have then cut a hole in the lid to match size of lens on camera. It works a treat. Just a bit of a blow if your kids don't like Marmite.... :t:
