A long time since I updated anything here mainly due to the extreme heat we experienced in Taiwan this summer limiting my birding to almost zero.
On 10 September 2017, I joined the TWBS on their annual trip to Pengjia Islet and luckily the weather cooperated with calm seas and good visibility.
Highlights included Masked Booby (2), Swinhoe's Storm Petrel, Bulwer's Petrel, Brown Noddy, Aleutian Tern, Streaked Shearwater. On the island there were a number of good (but not rare) migrants to keep us occupied including Ruddy Kingfisher, Grey-streaked Flycatcher, Ashy Minivet and big numbers of Brown Shrikes. Others also saw and photographed an Ijima Leaf Warbler
Here's a few photos:
1. Bulwer's Petrel
2. Grey-streaked Flycatcher
3. White-throated Needletail
4. Streaked Shearwater
5. Masked Booby
