Red-crowned Prothonotary Warbler (1 Viewer)

At High Island last weekend several of us watched a Prothonotary Warbler which had a distinct red crown (see photo). I don't see this feature mentioned in any of the book/website descriptions of the Prothonotary, although I found photos of a similar bird seen in Honduras last year.

Why it´s then only on the forehead ?

If its half an orange (other fruits are available) hung up, and the bird is clinging onto the bottom rim to feed, you'd get this sort of effect. The Baltimore Oriole wintering in Oxford some years ago was partial to that sort of feeding.
