Try this link Anthony to the BTO
http://blx1.bto.org/ringingTrainers/...g-trainers.jsp

Not sure exactly where you are but Colin MacShane is excellent and after trainees. He rings at Belvide Reservoir just west of Cannock not far junction 12 of the M6

Charlie,
thanks for your reply and link.I have been on the BTO site before but the map does not give details, it only says whatever amount of ringers in a certain area and how many want trainees but it does not give names or phone numbers etc.
thanks,
Anthony.

If you enter your post code and/or zoom in you'll get the detail you need and a button allowing you to email the one you want to contact.

Best of luck

Tim

I am also training with Colin MacShane and Peter Bache and they are both excellent trainers. They run a Constant Effort Site at Belvide so they ring regularly in the spring and autumn (weather permitting). If you live more in the SW of the West Midlands then another excellent trainer would be Ferg(us) Henderson who rings in the Worcestershire area (shows up as Mr F.N.G Henderson on BTO trainer search site).

Wolvobirder,
Thanks for your information. Unfortunately I don't drive so both destinations are a bit too far. Thanks,
Anthony.

Hiya Chiffchaff, you might struggle a bit if you don't have transport. If you are lucky enough to live near another ringer you might be ok. You will probably have to travel to different ringing sites and it's usually early before public transport starts.

Hi Anthony,

Once you have a trainer, you don't have to ring with them all the time, just occasional sessions so she/he can assess your progress. You may well find other ringers more local to you who are happy to help you increase your experience.

In any event, it is good to learn with a variety of different experienced ringers especially as this takes you to different sites where the mix is different, essential to progress.

Mike.

Leigh Nash is a ringing trainer and lives in Redditch. She's affiliated with Birmingham University and rings at Ipsley Alders and on the Lickey Hills if that's any good for you.
