The Animals Guide to Britain

For those who maybe missed it,just watched on BBC 2 Chris Peckhams new show " The Animals Guide to Britain " featured Beavers,Osprey,Dragonflies and Water Vole.I thought it was an absolutely cracking programme, albeit slightly obvious in some content to conservationists etc but hopefully will be seen by the same level of viewers ( i.e. The Masses) as Autumn and Spring watch.Really well worth putting in your diary for next week.

I saw a Water Vole at Silksworth Lakes, famously covered by Bill Oddie a couple of years ago at the stream next to Sainsburys, but has anyone seen one recently ? They are increasing everywhere with the destruction slowly of mink but have the Silksworth population gone ?

Teesdale this weekend.

With luck I wont be working this weekend and if not I want to catch the following,Ring Ouzel, Peregrine and Goshawk at Bolliehope Common, anyone know any good official or wild campsite places nearby? Thanks.:t:

Dormans Pool - am - Sedge Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Whitethroat, Linnet x6, Stonechat pair all by the lower car park.

It's been confirmed the colour ringed Avocet above was ringed on Saline Lagoon on 31st May 2010. Proof that they can return after just 12 months. Apparently around a dozen were colour ringed. Over winter there's been three other sightings, two in the Netherlands and one in Portugal.

Garganey still present at RSPB Saltholme yseterday morning and an otter was reported in the beck beside Haverton Gates.

Warbler Wednesday at Wainton Meadows (6:30-9:05) - 2 Grasshopper Warblers (1 seen reeling at No 1 and another heard at a different location), at least 3 Reed Warblers, 1 Sedge Warbler, 2 Blackcaps, at least 2 Whitethroats, lots of Willow Warbler and 2 Chiffchaff.

Nothing different on No 2 - probably getting quieter (before the storm I hope!!)
