Is this a bird nest? (1 Viewer)

I found this thing that looks like a birds nest in my front yard. It is about ten feet above the ground, and I do not know when it was made. I have never seen any bird go near it, so I don't even know if it is a nest. Could anyone tell me if it is a nest, and if so, what made it?

May be insects are the culprits here.
Whilst in India in Feb I saw something very similar that where in fact ants nests.
