Andy's field sketches (1 Viewer)

wonderful sketches, must have been hell pottering around the hotel, but at least you put your time to excellent use.

Never in the history of "The Shangri-La Hotel" will their delightful headed notepaper be put to better use.
Andrew - the quality of this fieldwork is quite simply out of this world. I am in absolute awe of your talent and ability to see. Superb.
Hope the hand has settled down - not that it appears to have hampered you in any way (well, drawing-wise anyway). Magic work from the wizard!

Well thanks Tim for your astounding praise. Not sure I deserve the title
of wizard though!!

I'm probably more Tommy Cooper than Gandalf!:-O

Luckily for me the Bite was on my Left hand so did'nt affect
the drawing hand although it made holding the pad a bit awkward
at first until the swelling went down.

Worst thing was could'nt have any Vodka tonics!!cos of the
medication;)

great to see your work again, i think that sketch of the beeaters on the barbed wire needs painting. Its fantastic.

Steve I will try,... not going to promise though still trying to get
other stuff finished!

Paschalis, I still have a way to go on the Bonelli's but will
keep going on it.

Nick, It was total hell. Like being in a very very nice prison
at times, where all the prison guards are really helpfull and
smile all the time . Arab Clients are great at hospitality
thats for sure!!

Trying to reserect this Thread , Sorry its been a while .

Hi Andrew,

Nice to have you back on board, as always, the sketches are great. Enjoyed the blog to, nice written accounts...

I simply love your work Andrew and it's a real privelige to see the creation of works which, I'm sure, will live in history. I'm just off to your blog now.

Good to see you back here Andy. Great work as always, and nice to be able to see whats going on with both blogs.

Saw the article in the fieldsports mag(?) recently too, really nice work in there.

Look forward to seeing more work soon.

Mike

What have I missed? What publication?

thanks,
Keith.

I think it was 'Fieldsports' magazine winter 2007, really good 4 page article with some brilliant artwork including partridge over fields. I confess, I was naughty and read the article in the shop! o:D

Mike

Thanks everyone for your comments . I'm glad your finding the Blogs.
still feeling my way a little with this Technology bit.

Glad you enjoyed the article Woody:t:

I managed to duck out the other day and get some sketching done
only of some local gulls but still an overlooked group of birds.
I need to brush up on my Gull id work especially the ageing
of them.

Working in the studio I heard the wonderful melodic sound of a
Song thrush the other day , I investigated and found it singing
from the top of the neighbours Cherry tree.Such a beautiful sound,
It remained there for a long while allowing some good drawings to be done.

The only thing that stopped its performance was the
the distress calls of a Blackbird . could'nt see what happened
but it sounded like it was grabbed by some thing. I looked
for evidence of a Sparrowhawk but did'nt see anything.
